How to design an effective retractable banner for your business

A retractable banner is essential for advertising your business at an event or trade show. Also known as a banner stand, a roll-up banner and a pull-up banner, this tool can be effective on a showroom floor to highlight a new product or convey a message since they can be set up in places where customers are going to congregate.

A retractable banner should be treated like any other part of your marketing strategy. That means it’s incredibly important to get the right design and the proper amount of information on your banner to generate the impact you want.

Here are some helpful tips to consider:

Placement

Use the top of your stand to display your company logo and core message. It is important to have your main message at eye level so whether it’s your company slogan, an image of a product or your website, put it at the level that is most likely to grab someone’s attention. Remember you have only a few seconds to get your audience’s attention.

Top to bottom, left to right

Consumers are used to reading from top to bottom and left to right so think about where you place your content (i.e. headlines, sales message and contact details).

Less is more

It’s important to only include relevant information on your retractable banner and keep the wording of your main message to a minimum.

Readability
